Slovakia vignette 2026 and 2027: what it costs and what it includes
Last checked: 2 November 2026
The Slovak electronic motorway vignette (e-vignette, in Slovak e-známka) for a vehicle up to 3.5 tonnes costs €8.10 for 1 day, €10.80 for 10 days, €17.10 for 30 days and €90 for 365 days. All prices include VAT. In 2027 the prices stay the same: on 24 September 2026 the Slovak Minister of Transport, Jozef Ráž, announced that vignettes for 2027 will cost the same as in 2026.
Slovakia vignette prices
The amount of the fee is set by Government Regulation of the Slovak Republic No. 232/2024 Z. z.; the vignette types are laid down in the Slovak Motorway Vignette Act No. 488/2013 Z. z. The price does not depend on the type of fuel or body – a car, a van and a motorhome up to 3.5 tonnes all pay the same.
| Vignette type | Validity | Price 2026 | Price 2027 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 day | the chosen calendar day until 23:59:59 | €8.10 | €8.10 |
| 10 days | 10 days including the first day | €10.80 | €10.80 |
| 30 days | 30 days including the first day | €17.10 | €17.10 |
| 365 days | 365 days including the first day | €90 | €90 |
The same prices apply to the vignette for a trailer or caravan, which is only required if the combination exceeds 3.5 tonnes. You will find the details in the guide Slovakia vignette by vehicle type.
How prices have developed
The electronic vignette system has been in operation in Slovakia since 1 December 2015, when it replaced paper stickers. A 1-day vignette has been available since August 2024. Since 1 January 2025 the prices under Government Regulation No. 232/2024 Z. z. have applied: the 365-day vignette then rose from €60 to €90, and the vignette valid for a calendar year was discontinued. Prices have not changed since then and, according to the Minister of Transport, will not change in 2027 either.
Who has to pay for the Slovakia vignette
The obligation applies on the designated sections of motorways and expressways marked by road signs. Under Section 2 of Act No. 488/2013 Z. z., it covers:
- two-track motor vehicles and vehicle combinations up to 3.5 tonnes,
- passenger cars of category M1 regardless of their weight,
- trailers of categories O1 and O2 if the sum of the maximum permissible masses of the M1 or N1 vehicle and the trailer exceeds 3.5 tonnes.
The driver must have paid for the vignette before entering a toll section; the vehicle operator is responsible for ensuring that the obligation is met. Motorcycles and trikes do not need a vignette. Electric cars are not exempt. Which sections are subject to the toll is explained in the guide Toll and toll-free motorway sections in Slovakia.
What the vignette includes
- Unlimited journeys: the fee is time-based, not linked to kilometres or the number of journeys. During its validity you may use the toll sections as often as you like.
- The whole toll network: one vignette is valid on all designated sections of motorways and expressways.
- One vehicle: the vignette is linked to the licence plate and the country of registration. It cannot be transferred to another vehicle.
- Proof of payment: after payment a confirmation is issued showing the licence plate, country, type and validity of the vignette; it also serves as a tax document.
Nothing is stuck on the windscreen. Checks are carried out by a camera system based on the licence plate, so it is important to enter the plate without any error.
Which vignette is the most popular
According to the Slovak National Motorway Company (NDS, Národná diaľničná spoločnosť), which operates the system, almost six million vignettes were sold in 2025. Almost half of them were 10-day vignettes (around 2.5 million). The 10-day vignette costs only €2.70 more than the 1-day vignette, so it already pays off from two days of driving. A comparison for different situations can be found in the guide Which Slovakia vignette to choose.
Frequently asked questions
